NEWARK, NJ — It was a historic night at the 91st Academy Awards on Sunday, which experienced its first incarnation without a host in 30 years and saw more black artists win than ever before. But for Newark native and star of “Creed 2,” Michael B. Jordan, it was just a nice night out with his mom.

Jordan – who has become beloved in his hometown of Newark after making it big in movies such as “Black Panther” and "Fruitvale Station” – got some serious social media props on Sunday after he posted a photo of his date to the 2019 Oscars.

“My mama about to make me have to fight somebody she looking so pretty,” a proud Jordan commented.
