Newark Obituary: Mary Catena, Mt. Carmel Church, Senior Citizens Club Member

Newark, NJ – Lifelong Newark resident Mary Catena (nee Somma) passed away on April 5.

The following obituary comes courtesy of the Buyus Funeral Home:

“Mary Catena (nee Somma), 91, passed away at Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

“She was born in Newark, NJ, and was a lifelong resident of the Ironbound.

“Mary was a bookkeeper for Bank of NY for many years. She was a member of the Ironbound Senior Citizens Club of Rome Street, the Independence Club Monday & Friday Clubs and a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where she was a member of the Mt. Carmel Society.

“Wife of the late Vincent Catena; mother of the late James Catena; mother-in-law of Kathleen; grandmother of Jimi and Jessica; great-grandmother of Jayden and Scarlett.”
