Newark Police Investigate Fatal Shooting; No Arrests Made
A 40-year-old victim died after a shooting in Newark early Monday morning, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — A 40-year-old victim died after a shooting in Newark early Monday morning, authorities said.
Rasheen Scott, 40, was shot on the 500-block of South 17th Street around 12:40 a.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Scott was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:02 a.m.

No arrests have been made as of Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting. Anyone with information can contact 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
