“This legendary dive has both boneless and traditional bone-in wings on the menu. Order them with the Employee Secret Sauce, it will cost a little extra but we hear it’s worth it … The restaurant is also known for its burgers, making Krug’s a double threat.”

The tavern offers some details about its long history in the Brick City on its website:

“Krug's Tavern was opened by Frank Krug in 1932. It was later purchased and still owned by the LaMotta family, relatives of the late Jake LaMotta, middleweight champion boxer of the '40s and '50s, who was also portrayed by Robert DeNiro in the award-winning ‘Raging Bull.’”

Krug’s is currently open for indoor dining and takeout. But the coronavirus pandemic left its mark, just like it did for many others in New Jersey’s largest city.

The restaurant’s website states:

“COVID-19 has changed this industry in an unforeseen way. We were closed for 71 days, with every day trying to figure out how we can make our 88-year-old business adapt to the ‘new normal.’ We are trying our best to accommodate our loyal customers, with that being said, the safety of our employees and customers is our top priority. Rules and guidelines are changing daily and we are trying to keep up as best as we can.”
