Newark Trying To Hike COVID Vaccine Numbers With ‘Pop-Up’ Sites
Newark kicked off a new effort to get more people vaccinated against COVID-19 by holding "walk-up" vaccine sites in each city ward.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark is kicking off a new effort to get more people vaccinated against COVID-19 by holding “pop-up” vaccine sites in each city ward.
On Wednesday, officials launched the city’s community vaccination site campaign with a one-day event at Ivy Hill Park in the West Ward. The site gave shots to residents 18 and older, and walk-up appointments were available.

- East Ward: Wednesday, May 26, Ironbound B Field, 105 St. Charles Street
- North Ward: Tuesday, June 8, Luis Muñoz Marin, 663 Broadway
- South Ward: Tuesday, June 22, Restored Holiness Church of God, 40 Hobson Street
- Central Ward: Wednesday, July 7, Nat Turner Park, 251-289 18th Avenue
The effort got a thumbs-up on social media from Gov. Phil Murphy.
