NEWARK, NJ — Newark is kicking off a new effort to get more people vaccinated against COVID-19 by holding “pop-up” vaccine sites in each city ward.

On Wednesday, officials launched the city’s community vaccination site campaign with a one-day event at Ivy Hill Park in the West Ward. The site gave shots to residents 18 and older, and walk-up appointments were available.

  • North Ward: Tuesday, June 8, Luis Muñoz Marin, 663 Broadway
  • South Ward: Tuesday, June 22, Restored Holiness Church of God, 40 Hobson Street
  • Central Ward: Wednesday, July 7, Nat Turner Park, 251-289 18th Avenue

The effort got a thumbs-up on social media from Gov. Phil Murphy.
