Newark officials recently posted social media updates about two ways for local youth to keep busy during school break: boxing and chess lessons.

CHESS CLUB
Newark youth seeking to exercise their minds may be interested in the Newark Chess Club, which offers free instructional and competitive programs for ages 7 and up, including adults.
The club meets from 5 to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday at the Boylan Street Recreation Center, John F. Kennedy Recreation Center, SJ/KAG Recreation Center, Bo Porter Sports Complex and Rotunda Recreation Center.
