Progressive Music Festival Hits Military Park Following Renovation

The event will take place at 5 p.m. every Wednesday in July.

Music will echo throughout Newark's renovated Military Park to celebrate its makeover.

Starting tomorrow, a slew of progressive musicians and DJs will take the stage for the first ever Guard d’ Avant Music Festival.

The festival, sponsored by the Newark Downtown District and the Newark Arts Council, will continue at 5 p.m. during every Wednesday in July and showcase the talents of an eclectic group of artists.

The event was created in an effort to change the nationwide and global perspective about Newark while allowing community members to enjoy the newly redone park.

Artists to perform at the event include UNiiQU3, a female DJ who recently performed for the RedBull Music Festival and is set to hit stages across the country all summer; Peter Hadar, who has been featured on Billboard and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and rapper Kazzie, whose newest hit "Yeah OK" is making a splash.

All events are free to the public. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by emailing guarddavant@thomarketing.com.
