Updated: Newark Public Schools Closed Due to Snow

A snowstorm is expected to dump up to 10 inches of snow and up to a half-inch of ice on the region.

Newark Public Schools said that all schools would close on Monday due severe weather conditions. The central office will remain open.

St Francis Xavier School at 594 North 7th Street, said it will delay its opening on Monday until 10:30 a.m. as a winter storm is expected to drop nine inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain on the region.

New Jersey Institute of Technology will delay its administrative office opening until 10:30 a.m. Classes will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Rutgers University said all campuses, including the Newark campus, will remain on a normal schedule.
