Teen Accused Of Stabbing Newark Man To Death In His Apartment

Authorities charged a 14-year-old juvenile with murder. Newark police have identified the 55-year-old victim.

NEWARK, NJ — A 14-year-old juvenile has been accused of stabbing a Newark man to death in his apartment last weekend, authorities said.

Jorge Martinez, 55, was stabbed in his Parker Street home in the predawn hours on Friday. He was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Authorities have charged a 14-year-old juvenile suspect with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, police said Tuesday.
