Trailer For ‘The Many Saints Of Newark’ Finally Drops: WATCH
Get a glimpse of the "Sopranos" prequel movie, which was partly filmed in New Jersey.
NEWARK, NJ — “When I was a kid, guys like me were brought up to follow codes,” the voice of an adult Tony Soprano intones grimly, as the title credits – “Newark, New Jersey” – roll across the screen.
And that’s when the violence begins.
This was the tantalizing picture that was painted Tuesday, as HBO released its first trailer for “The Many Saints of Newark,” the highly anticipated prequel movie for “The Sopranos.”

The blockbuster reportedly centers around Tony Soprano’s early life before became the boss of a crime family in New Jersey, including his relationship with Dickie Moltisanti, father of the ill-fated Christopher Moltisanti. It’s set during the 1960s and 1970s in Newark.
In an emotional turn, the young version of Tony is played by Michael Gandolfini, son of late “Sopranos” star James Gandolfini, who originated the now-iconic role.

The movie's debut was previously delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Its current release date in theaters and HBO Max, Oct. 1, has been pushed back multiple times.

Shooting for the movie took place in New York City and North Jersey, including in Essex County, which was also a frequent stomping ground for the award-winning show.

Filming locations for the movie included a September 2020 shoot at Holsten's Brookdale Confectionary in Bloomfield, which was featured in the final episode of the iconic HBO series.

Rombiolo Bakery Café also reported that a crew from Rose City Productions Inc. was shooting a scene for the movie. The café shared some photos of the scene on social media.
