Weather Cancels Most Flights At Newark, LaGuardia Airports: Jan 4
More than 70% of flights at Newark Airport scheduled for Thursday were cancelled amid a blizzard warning. At LaGuardia, it was even worse.

NEWARK, NJ — More than 70 percent of flights at Newark Airport scheduled for Thursday were cancelled amid a blizzard that is primed to dump snow across the state. At LaGuardia Airport, the travel situation was even worse, with more than 90 percent of flights canceled, and at JFK Airport, 20 percent didn’t take off due to the weather, the Port Authority of NY/NJ stated.
On Wednesday night, the Port Authority urged fliers to check with their carriers before heading to the above three airports.
Newark Airport officials said that commuters should monitor their flight status and allow for extra time to get to the airport due to the winter weather. Officials repeated their warning on Thursday morning, stating that weather conditions were impacting flights at the busy airport.
