Weequahic High School Student Fatally Shot in Targeted Attack, Prosecutor Says

Coulibabry Zoumana Wilson, 15, was shot on Leslie Street Tuesday afternoon.

A 15-year-old Weequahic High School student was gunned down Tuesday afternoon in what appeared to be a targeted shooting in the 100 block of Leslie Street, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Coulibabry Zoumana Wilson was found shot at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The boy was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:52 p.m., the prosecutor's office said Tuesday night.

The investigation is still in the preliminary stages, but the incident did not appear to be random, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force is continuing to investigate the shooting.
