A "Newark-bred" success story, Adenah Bayoh has opened several restaurants in the city, including two IHOPs.

NEWARK, NJ — When it comes to local success stories, Weequahic High School in Newark has had its fair share. But without a doubt, former alum Adenah Bayoh has a high place among them.

On Wednesday, Mayor Ras Baraka was among those present at a ribbon cutting for Bayoh’s fourth IHOP – and second in Newark.

“But that's not it,” Baraka pointed out in a social media post, calling Bayoh an “amazing, Newark-bred” entrepreneur.

“She also opened a Cornbread franchise right next door and will be opening an urban vegan cafe as well,” Baraka wrote. “All three in the commercial retail space she owns, right below the 84-unit building she also owns that is 55 percent affordable.”
