Berkley School Outranks Gibbs in Top NJ Elementary Schools
Berkley was ranked 504th in the state while Gibbs followed at 620

Berkley school came out just slightly ahead of Gibbs in a listing of elementary schools in the state in 2011-2012, according to school ranking website schooldigger.com.
Drawing from performance data from the New Jersey Department of Education, Berkley was ranked 504th out of 1,254 elementary schools in the state. Gibbs followed in at 620. Gibbs fell 41 spots in the rankings from the previous year, while Berkley rose 129 positions from the prior year.
Third and fourth-grade students from the two schools showed high proficiency in mathematics, ranging from 81 to 84 Â percent on average in the ASK evaluation tests. Language arts proficiency for both was between 66 to 71 percent.

Gibbs students averaged a 147 on the combined ASK tests, with Berkley garnered a 155.5 average.
The Middle School was ranked 207 out of 675 middle schools in New Jersey, a 63-spot increase over last year. David E. Owens students averaged a combined 158.7 on the NJ ASK, with approximate scores of 82.8 percent on Language arts proficiency and 75.9 percent on mathematics.

New Milford High School fell 115 spots in the website's rankings to 247 with a combined High School Proficiency Assessment score of 168.1. Students garnered an average 76.5 percent mathematics score and 91.6 percent on language arts.
As a whole, the New Milford School district was ranked 286th out of 558 districts in the state, according to schooldigger.com.
