Dumont Community Group holds forum on Stigma-Free campaign

Residents gather in support of greater mental health awareness in their community

On Monday, May 13, 2019, the Dumont Community Group held a special "Stigma-Free" symposium as part of its regular monthly meeting.

The forum, attended by approximately 30 members of the community, was hosted by the DCG as a means of introducing the Stigma-Free campaign to the community at large. It included presentations by two students of Dumont High School who are members of the school's theater and forensics programs. Their presentations addressed the issues of living with mental health challenges, such as anxiety and depression, as a teenager.

Also in attendance were several members of the newly-created borough Stigma-Free Committee: Margaret Preis of Vantage Health Care, Karen DeMarco, William Paige, and Dumont Council Liaison Carole Stewart. Dumont Councilman Andrew LaBruno was also in attendance.
