Dumont creates new Economic Development Committee
Borough establishes advisory board to assess local businesses and utilization of vacant real estate

At its meeting on April 16, 2019, the Dumont Borough Council adopted an ordinance establishing the town's first Economic Development Committee.
Although designated as "strictly an advisory committee", the EDC is empowered to, among other things:
a) analyze the state of the various businesses, industries, and professions within the Borough, and assess the expansion opportunites of same;

b) encourage various businesses to relocate to Dumont;
c) work with existing business to retain their presence and encourage their expansion; and

d) recommend to the Borough Council areas in need of redevelopment.
On May 7, 2019, the Dumont Council appointed members to the newly-formed EDC, as follows:
- Noreen Best (term ends 12/23)
- Ifraz Illyas (term ends 12/22)
- Nicola Attansio (term ends 12/22)
- Gregory Morse (term ends 12/21)
- Mike Cervantes (term ends 12/19)
- Ryan Knabb (alternate - term ends 12/21)
- Richard Puzio (alternate - term ends 12/22)
- Daniela Apolito - Bank Liaison (term ends 12/20)
- Councilman Andrew LaBruno (term ends 12/19)
- Councilman Jimmy Chae (term ends 12/19)
