Edgewood’s Hillegass Runs NYC Marathon
Kyle Hillegass of Edgewood Country Club Runs New York Marathon to Raise Funds for Social Promise

Kyle Hillegass, the golf course superintendent at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, NJ, gave purpose to his participation in the 2017 New York City Marathon by raising $3,780 for the non-profit organization, Social Promise. Hillegass completed the race, held on November 5, in a little over four hours.
“It’s been my lifelong goal to run in the New York City Marathon, and to be able to do so with a real purpose and support Social Promise, made this so meaningful,” said Hillegass, who trained for five months for the race. Hillegass has been managing and maintaining Edgewood Country Club’s 27-hole golf course for nearly four years.
Social Promise partners with non-profits in Uganda to prove critical health and educational resources to impoverished communities. In association with the St. Jude Children's Home in Gulu, Uganda, which cares for young children who have lost their families due to AIDS, poverty and war, Social Promise helps support a residence for children with special needs, their primary school and an orphanage. Social Promise is also dedicated to educating children in communities here about life in other parts of the world, as it seeks to foster a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and philanthropy.
