Whole Foods Accused Of Overcharging Customers: Report
Grocery store chain accused of overcharging customers for prepackaged foods.

Whole Foods has been accused of overcharging customers for prepacked food.
The accusation comes after the New York City Department of Consumer Affairsconducted an investigation and discovered that the popular grocery store chain overcharges customers in what DCA Commissioner Julie Menin said is ”the worst case of mislabeling they have seen in their careers,” NBC News reported.
There are three Whole Foods in Bergen County: Paramus at the Bergen Towne Center, Edgewater, and in Ridgewood.

“The overcharges ranged from [80 cents] for a package of pecan panko to $14.84 for a package of coconut shrimp,” the agency said in a statement.
The DCA said it tested 80 different package varieities and found that 89 percent of them were not in line with the federal standard for the maximum amount “that an individual package can deviate from the actual weight,” the website reported.

Whole Foods said it disagrees with the “overreaching allegations” and is ”vigorously defending itself,” the website reported.
“Despite our requests to the DCA, they have not provided evidence to back up their demands nor have they requested any additional information from us, but instead have taken this to the media to coerce us,” NBC reported.
