Attorney General Files Complaint Against Bergen County Construction Company

ABC Construction didn't complete contracted work and didn't give customers their money back, the state alleges.

Two Bergen County business owners and their home improvement business are accused of doing substandard work, not finishing work that was started, and leaving bathrooms and kitchens unusable, according to state officials.

State Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman and the state Division of Consumer Affairs filed an eight-count complaint against Frankie Olandesi, a Wyckoff resident, Charleston J. Masterson, of Bergenfield, and their company, ABC Construction NJ Inc. in state Superior Court Thursday.

ABC Construction allegedly damaged homes, started work without obtaining permits, started, but did not finish, renovating bathrooms and kitchens, performed work in “substandard manner” and without permits, and violated several state regulations, including the Consumer Fraud Act, the complaint alleges. The company has business locations in Oradell and Bergenfield.

Some homeowners have unfinished kitchens and bathrooms that cannot be used, officials said, while others did not receive cabinets, tiles, and other products.

“We’re taking action in response to such unlawful conduct and will do everything we can to obtain restitution for these homeowners to prevent future harm to others,” said Hoffman.

ABC Construction did not give customers their money back after failing to complete the contracted work nor did they respond to phones calls and complaints “in a timely manner or at all,” the complaint also states.

The Bergen County Consumer Affairs Office referred the matter to the state Division of Consumer Affairs.
