Bergen County Resident's Horse American Pharaoh Wins Kentucky Derby

Teaneck's Ahmed Zayat said he was 'speechless' after win.

After four tries, American Pharaoh got it right.

Teaneck resident Ahmed Zayat’s colt won the 141th running of the Kentucky Derby by holding off Firing Lane for a first-place finish after finishing second three times.

“I’m speechless. This is very emotional,” Zayat told NorthJersey.com. “We’ve been very close. We are extremely thrilled and honored.”
