CTC Academy Hosts Special Needs Dentistry Forum

CTC Academy’s Oakland Campus welcomed dental professionals from the greater NY and NJ area to the 2019 NJ Special Needs Dentistry Forum supported by Henry Schein Cares, DMG America, Project Accessible Oral Health and Special Olympics.

We know that good oral healthcare is a critical component of maintaining overall good health and well-being. What you may not know is dental care is the most frequently cited unmet health need for children and adults with disabilities. Finding an experienced practitioner willing to treat and also assuring that they have an accessible facility equipped to accommodate the needs of the individual is very difficult, if not impossible. As a result, the care needed is often not received. In addition, since individuals and caregivers are faced with so many other challenges to address, they often have no choice but to move oral care lower on the priority list. Knowing this need existed in our community, The CTC Academy joined forces with our forum supporters and expert presenters to offer a day of learning communication and coping skills.
