Four Bergen Hospitals Receive High Marks For Patient Safety

Hospitals all received A grades in a new survey from the Leapfrog Group.

Four Bergen County hospitals received A ratings in the Leapfrog Group’s annual Hospital Safety Score evaluations.

The Leapfrong Group is a non-profit healthcare industry watchdog. It analyzed medical facilities throughout the United States to determine which ones ranked the best regarding procedures intended to ensure patients’ well being.

Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Holy Name Medical Center, Hackensack University Medical Center, and The Valley Hospital, received A grades.

Leapfrog used various criteria to calculate grades. The group examined whether physicians and nurses took steps to optimize safety during surgeries, whether patients received adequate post-op care, whether staffing levels were appropriate to prevent threats to patients’ health, and whether facilities had clearly defined protocols to protect patients.
