'Hard-Working Dad' William Tully, 88, Of Oakland Dies

Tully was a talented home chef and loved cooking for his family.

OAKLAND, NJ — William Tully of Oakland died Sunday surrounded by his family.

Tully, 88, married his sweetheart Lenore Mendelsohn on New Year's Eve. This year will celebrate their 60th anniversary in heaven, his family said in his obituary.

Tully worked at Brevel Motors in Carlstadt for more than 30 years. Subsequently, he was a short-order cook until he retired.

Tully loved cooking for his family, and was a talented home chef. He was an avid New York Giants fan, season ticket holder for more than 40 years, and loved to tailgate at Giants games.

Tully also loved reading the newspaper from cover to cover every day and keeping up on national news, his obituary said.

Tully was a hard-working dad to his daughters, Lisa Duncan and Roni Caro. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jared, Larissa, Rachel, Luke, and L.J. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard.

A viewing will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road. A funeral service will be 10:45 a.m. Friday in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum at 300 Soldier Hill Road in Washington Township in Bergen County.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Oakland First Aid Squad, Post Office Box 5, Oakland NJ 07436.
