Here's How Oakland's Population Changed In 2018
How did the change compare to nearby towns like Ridgewood and Glen Rock? Find out.
OAKLAND, NJ — The borough's population remained nearly the same year over year, new estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show.
Oakland gained three residents in 2018, which translates to a 0.02 percent increase. The town's estimated population was 13,021, good for 191st highest in New Jersey.

Franklin Lakes had a 20-person gain, a 0.20 percent increase. Other nearby towns lost people. Ridgewood lost 21 people. Glen Rock lost 17, according to estimates. Mahwah lost one person.
New Hanover township in Burlington County posted the biggest gain in 2018 with 817 new residents moving there. Maurice River township in Cumberland County had the biggest population decrease at 4.41 percent after 278 residents left.

Overall, New Jersey gained 19,977 residents in 2018 and had a total population of 8.9 million.
