James Dalenberg, Ex-Sheriff's Officer, Oakland Vietnam Vet, Dies

Dalenberg was a Bergen County Sheriff's officer for 25 years before he retired.

OAKLAND, NJ —James K. Dalenberg, 70, a longtime Bergen County Sheriff's officer, died Monday.

Dalenberg, of Oakland, was raised in Franklin Lakes and was a Ramapo High School graduate, his obituary stated.

Dalenberg was a Bergen County Sheriff's officer for 25 years, before retiring as a sergeant, the obituary stated.

He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Adele, sons, Kenneth and Lucas, brothers, Peter and Karl, uncle, John Dalenberg, and mother, Dorothy.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church in Franklin Lakes Saturday at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Grace Community Church.
