Joseph White, 51, 'Devoted Father' Of Oakland Dies

Nothing brought him more joy than his children, his family said in his obituary said.

OAKLAND, NJ — Nothing brought Joseph White more joy than his children.

White, 51, of Oakland died peacefully on Thursday, his family said in his obituary.

White was a "devoted" friend and brother. He enjoyed spending time with close family and friends. He loved watching his son, Trevor play hockey from kindergarten through college.

He enjoyed mountain biking, snowboarding, and the New York Rangers.

He was predeceased by his son, Shawn, father, Thomas, brother, Thomas, and nephew, Max.

White is survived by his wife, Allison Barney White; children Trevor and Baylee; mother, Janice; brothers Tim, Jim, and John; and sister, Kathy; and 27 loving nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered by his father-in-law, Donald Barney, brothers-in-law, Donald and Mark, and sisters-in-law, Kate Butler and Kerry Eckert, his obituary said.

Visitation with the family will be at Oakland Memorial Home Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. A private funeral service will be at Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made at spiritoftheseason.org, to benefit the James and Mary White Unit for the Care of People with Huntington's Disease at the Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center.
