Man Airlifted Out Of I-287, In Oakland, After Car Crash

A loose tire flew from one lane to another, hitting a car and causing it to crash. On the car was also a 2-year-old girl.

OAKLAND, NJ — A car crash on I-287 early morning on Thursday left the driver, a 29-year-old man from Spring Valley, with serious injuries, having to be airlifted out, according to police.

The right and center lanes of the interstate south were closed down for about four hours.

The accident happened at approximately 8:18 a.m. A black Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on I-287, in Oakland, when a tire detached from an unknown vehicle on the opposite lane and crossed over, striking the Ford.

On the car was also a 2-year-old girl, who sustained some minor injuries, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
