Oakland Is Selling Discounted Compost Bins To Residents

OAKLAND, NJ — The Borough of Oakland is selling backyard compost bins to residents, for a discounted price of $60 (with a retail value of $100).

The model available is The Earth Machine, an 80-gallon capacity bin with a harvest door for easy compost removal.

Up to 30% of household waste can be composted resulting in fertilizer that can be used in gardening.

The bins are available in a limited quantity and can be purchased Monday through Friday at the Oakland Department of Public Works. Cash or checks are accepted. Delivery can be arranged by calling (201) 337-8104, ext. 3002.
