Oakland Student Honored For Science Work
Junior Grace Mendolia could receive a $40,000 scholarship from the University of Rochester for winning the award.

OAKLAND, NJ — A local high school student has received an award for her work in science.
Grace Mendolia is a junior at Immaculate Heart Academy. She was among several students honored at the school's honors convocation for their academic achievements.
Mendolia received the University of Rochester's Bausch and Lamb Honorary Science Award. The annual award is given in recognition of "outstanding academic achievement and superior intellectual promise in the field of science," IHA said in a news release.

Award recipients must have earned high PSAT or SAT math scores and "must make positive contributions their school and their community," IHA said. Recipients who apply and are accepted to the university will receive a minimum $40,000 scholarship.
Immaculate Heart Academy is an all-girls Catholic regional high school in the Township of Washington. About 800 students are enrolled at the school.
