OAKLAND, NJ — Jared Timothy Spingler, a father, friend, and brother, died Dec. 28.

Spingler, 37, of Oakland enjoyed spending time with close friends and family, but most importantly with his son, Liam, his obituary said.

His son Liam has gained national attention with his sharing of his cancer journey, which continues to raise money for families throughout the country.

Spingler enjoyed life, was an avid basketball player, enjoyed fishing with his dad, and taking his son and dog, Georgia for hikes in the Ramapo mountains.

Nothing brought him more joy than being with friends and family to laugh and share stories with, his obituary said.

Spingler was a graduate of William Paterson University.

He is survived by his son, parents, Tom and Karyn, brother, Justin, sister-in-law, Nikole, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He will be remembered by his ex-wife, Jessica; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kathy and Mike McKeever; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Jackie Sheridan, Michael and Ali McKeever, and Chris and Caitlin Loomis.

Visitation will be at the Oakland Memorial Home Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
