Projected Winter Storm Moves Area Public Schools to Close Early
Public schools will begin closing after noon Tuesday; all after school and evening events are cancelled.

The snow is starting, and the Oakland Public Schools and the Ramapo Indian Hills District are taking action to keep students and staffers safe. The schools will follow an early dismissal schedule Tuesday in advance of the snow and extreme cold coming this way.Â
According to the OPS website, Valley Middle School will dismiss at 12:20 p.m. The elementary schools will dismiss at 1 p.m.Â
Ramapo and Indian Hills high schools will close following exams. Buses for these schools will run regular routes Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. Laptop distribution will also be postponed for Tuesday. Check the district website for an updated distribution schedule.Â
All afterschool evening activities, including the Oakland Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday night, are canceled. The superintendent's office says the school board meeting will be rescheduled shortly and the information will be posted on the OPS website.
