Teachers in the Ramapo Indian Hills School District tend to earn less then the surrounding school districts, county and state.
- Over the past five years, approximately 50 teachers and school staff have left the Ramapo Indian Hills School District for other higher paying districts.
- In 2016, 60% of teaching staff members had Masters Degrees or higher
- In the 2016-17 school year, staff contributed up to 35% of the cost towards their health insurance premiums, meant to offset the tax- payer burden.
- Today a staff member is earning less then 5 years ago due to the new health insurance contribution, which is higher than private sector contributions in NJ and higher than any other state’s contributions. (NJ Spotlight)
- An 8.8% increase may be comparable as a percent to what Northern Valley teachers received, but it's not comparable as a raise. Our average salary in 2016 was $68k; Northern Valley's was $92k. If we both gain 8.8% raises, our salaries fall even further behind theirs by over $2,000!
