Junior Eagle Scout Project Benefits Oakland School

A school and therapy center for children and young adults with disabilities

CTC Academy student, Jude O'Brien, has a big brother who knows how much a sensory garden means to the children and young adults who attend our Oakland Campus. Timothy O'Brien Jr. created six incredible, rolling, accessible, sensory gardens at the school to satisfy the requirements of his Eagle Scout project and to make his little brother smile. Tim's Eagle Scout project is meant to be a culmination of his leadership training while benefitting his community. Tim, along with assistance from the Scouts of Troop 27, included two Zen sand gardens, rock gardens with succulent plants, wind chimes and animal-repellent pinwheels as well as creating a new drainage system in our existing outside garden. The CTC students now have flourishing, wheelchair-accessible gardens to use both indoors and outdoors in our Horticulture Program.

CTC Academy is a 501 (c)(3), non-profit organization that is enhancing the lives of children and young adults with special needs, and their families, by providing an enriched educational, therapeutic and supportive environment.
