Bergen County Academies Senior Is One of 40 National Finalists!
Fairview BCA Student Named 2021 Regeneron Science Talent Search Finalist!

Bergen County Academies student Michael Gomez, of Fairview, is one of only 40 National Finalists in the Regeneron Science Talent Search. Michael is a 17-year-old senior in the Bergen County Academies’ Academy for the Advancement of Science and Technology. Michael’s research project titled, “Underscoring the “Hypo-Hyper” Duality of Celecoxib in Melanocyte Pigmentation”, earned him a place in this elite group of young scientists, who are competing for a top prize of $250,000.
According to the Society for Science website, “The 2021 finalists were selected from 1,760 highly qualified entrants, all of whom completed an original research project and extensive application process. The top 10 Regeneron Science talent Search 2021 winners will be announced during a live streamed virtual awards ceremony on March 17th.
Started in 1942 as the Westinghouse Science Talent Search, the Regeneron Science Talent Search (Regeneron STS) recognizes and empowers our nation’s most promising young scientists who are developing ideas that could solve society’s most urgent challenges.
