Cornelius 'Bud' Mahoney of Paramus Dies at Age 87

Cornelius 'Bud' Mahoney, an active member of the Paramus community, passed away July 20 peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He was 87.

Mahoney was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII, being a tail gunner in a B-17. He was a member of the Paramus VFW Post 6699 and the Paramus American Legion Post 207. 

He was a Paramus Shade Tree Commissioner for more than 25 years and was director of the Paramus Mountettes Drum and Bugle Corps. 

Mahoney worked as a quality control engineer at Bendix. Corp, working on the Missile Guidance System in the Apollo program. 

He is survived by his wife Frances (nee Garrison) of 58 years and their children Kathy Mahoney, Sharon Palicia and her husband Glen, Neal Mahoney, Patricia Smesko and her husband Raymond, six grandchildren and siblings Patricia Williams, James Mahoney and Jeannie Mahoney. 

Family will receive friends at Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 25. Funeral mass will be Friday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at Annunciation RC Church in Paramus where he was a parishioner.
