Paramus Teen Explores His Love for Spray Paint Art
Paramus' David Budnick has started his own small business selling his spray painted artworks online.
Paramus' David Budnick was just 6-years-old when he first discovered the world of spray painting art. The youngster would always look out for the spray paint artist he'd see on the Wildwood Boardwalk each summer when his parents took him on vacation.Â
Now many years later the recent Paramus High School graduate is spray painting tables, canvases and even guitars and has started a side business selling his works.Â
Budnick says he has been fascinated with this art form since he discovered Joshua Moonshine a spray paint artist who works down at the Wildwood Boardwalk. Â He would watch him flip cans and do tricks and dream about doing that himself one day.Â
Over the years he discovered his artistic side as he got into drawing, painting and sculpting in sophomore year at high school.
This past May during prom weekend he saw Joshua Moonshine once again and it inspired him to take it upon himself to try it out.Â
"I told him I literally have been watching him my entire life. He shook my hand and told me good luck," said Budnick.Â
His friends were supportive and got got him some spray paints and he hasn't stopped painting since. He's started out painting outer space and monster type themes on tables, canvases and even guitars.Â
During his graduation party last month he showed some of his relatives his works and they immediately were interested in purchasing some.Â
He's taken it to the social media networks on the web and is already receiving requests for custom-made pieces.Â
Although he loves art he plans to study neuroscience in college and may pursue medical school next. He's turned his love for spray painting art into a part-time job where he's able to earn money towards school.Â
He credits his high school art teacher Heather Corey for getting him started with art in the first place. "She pushed me to try and do things and I have her to thank for that," said Budnick. Had it not been for her encouragement he would have never thought he could actually do spray painting, he says.Â
