NJSBA to Host School Safety Parent Forums

The tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, has led local education officials and law enforcement to reassess school security measures. Parents also need to play a crucial role in the discussion.

On Wednesday, March 27, the New Jersey School Boards Association will host "Safe and Secure Schools: A Parent's Forum," featuring an informative and interactive discussion on the new challenges of school security. The program will be held at Paramus High School from 7 – 9 p.m. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. NJSBA will host a 2nd meeting in the southern region of the state in April. The date and location will be available soon.

A panel of educators and law enforcement professionals will discuss current practices and ways districts are improving school safety. There will also be time dedicated for a question-and-answer session.

NJSBA is encouraging school districts to invite parents and other concerned community member to this informative event. Pre-registration is required and available through the following link:http://bergenparent.eventbrite.com/.
