
Paramus junior Brittany Hovan is continuing to roll past the competition on the lanes after finishing second in the North JerÂsey Singles Championship behind West Deptford's Morgan Brown. Hovan, seeded third, entered the third round with a 201 and edged past IHA's Kaitlin Pasinski and Paramus Catholic's Nikki Vucak with a 183 to face Brown in the finals where she lost 193-151. She later led the girls team over Hackensack and Indian Hills, by scores of 5-2.
Bowling
Takuya Tokonaga rolled a high series 727 during the Paramus boys loss to Hackensack 7-0. The Spartans also fell to Indian Hills 7-0.
Paramus Catholic’s Nikki Vucak and Anastasia DeLeon opened the Singles Championship with games of 540 and 495. Vucak had a 193 in the second round and a 192 in the third round to place fourth overall. The duo led PC over Pascack Valley 7-0 while the boys team, bolstered by James Kane's high 758 and Brian Rizzi's 607, rolled past the Indians 5-2.

Wrestling
Paramus's Brandon LoPresti secured the 33-27 victory over Demarest in a final 9-1 decision. The Spartans made a successful trip to Pennsylvania's Zephyr Duals finishing second overall behind Stroudsburg, 38-30. Back in North Jersey, the Spartans upset rival Ramapo, 58-21, recording four pins and three victories by forfeit.
The PC Paladins downed the Eastside Ghosts 58-21 with seven pins an a 10-2 major decision by Justin Costello. Zack Cavallaro's 1:52 pin over Brian Muggeo secured the Paladins to not be shutout by St. Joseph Regional, 65-6.

Basketball
Corinne Poitvien has been heating up the hardwood as the Lady Paladins downed Woodlands (NY), 69-39; Roselle Catholic, 43-41, Demarest, 68-43, and Pascack Valley, 46-37.
Paramus Lady Spartan Brittany Stone is just 32 points away from being the second Paramus basketball player to hit 1000 career points after banking 40 points in three games. The Lady Spartans defeated Glen Rock 41-36 before falling to Holy Angels, 67-41 and Old Tappan 53-35.
Paramus boys earned their first win over the season by just barely getting ahead of Old Tappan, 53-52. Just a few days before, the Spartans' John Morella netted 23 points in the 65-45 loss to Bergen Catholic.
Jalen Henriquez has led the Paramus Catholic boys with a win over Demarest, 63-39, and Pascack Valley, 52-49, sandwiching a late minute loss to Marist 50-48.
Ice Hockey
Paramus Catholic is unstoppable in the Big North Gold Division, shutting out Bayonne 10-0 and Ridgewood 3-0 this week as Alex Fleischman netted five goals between the two matches. Goalie Thomas Pyrka stopped 22 shots this week.
Alex Kellenberger's 18 saves were not enough to keep Paramus ahead as the Spartans lost to Mahwah 4-2. Tom Palestina and Steven Giambagno each netted a goal late in the game.
Swimming
Paramus girls fell to Indian Hills (109-61) and Clifton (96-71) this week while the boys beat the Mustangs 94-76.
Paramus Catholic boys won 111-59 over Pascack Valley as John Nunez, Maciek Paz and Alex Crudello all had top finishes. Maria Guerrero, Nicole Saramillo,, Jen Antonietti, Juliana Lally and Alyson Archer couldn't keep up as the girls fell 109-61 to the Lady Indians.
