New Bridge Vaccine Center Closing Early As Storms Expected

PARAMUS, NJ — Bergen New Bridge Medical Center will close their COVID-19 vaccination clinic early Wednesday as severe storms, hail and 60-mph winds are in the forecast.

The Paramus site will close at 1 p.m., which will cancel some Wednesday appointments, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco said. However, any appointment scheduled after 1 p.m. on Wednesday will be honored on Thursday or Friday.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to arrive between the afternoon hours of 1 and 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Hail, 60-mph winds and power outages are possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook in parts of New Jersey as a strong cold front also moves across the area. The primary threat will be damaging winds, the NWS says. Read more: Severe Storms, Hail, 60-MPH Winds Expected In NJ

Afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 60s will fall into the 40s by the evening, and heavy rain and damaging wind are possible, according to the NWS New York, New York office.

A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. High near 68. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight

A 30 percent chance of showers before 7 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 35. Northwest wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Thursday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

Thursday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. West wind 13 to 17 mph.
