Paramus Celebrates Earth Day This Sunday
Annual event is presented by the Paramus Environmental Commission

The entire community is invited to celebrate Earth Day this coming Sunday as the Paramus Environmental Commission presents a full afternoon of fun green-friendly activites and more at Petruska Park.
The annual event is set for Sunday, April 28 from noon to 4 p.m. More than 25 vendors will participating in this year's event and there will be plenty of activities including face painting, food, a Wild Life show, raffles and give aways, according to Inge DiPasquale of the Paramus Environmentl Commission.
Also the Bergen County Sheriff's K-9 unit will put on a show at 2 p.m.

During the Earth Day celebration, Sakina Nathoo, a sixth grade student of West Brook Middle School will be honored for winning the Environmental Commission sponsored drawing contest. The Environmental Commission had requested picture submissions that represented the environment and recycling from students in all Paramus schools.
All the submissions can be seen on the commission's website paramusec.org.

Sakina's picture has been printed on reusable shopping bags which will be given away at the Earth Day celebration.
The reuseable shopping bag also goes in part with the borough's effort to encouage the use of reusable bags in the community. The borough will recognize the week of Aug. 28 as during "Bring your own bag week."
