Recycling Event at Bergen Community College Paramus Campus Saturday

Bergen County residents can bring unwanted documents, computers and used tires to be recycled by the Bergen County Utilities Authorities at the Bergen Community College Paramus campus Saturday, Aug. 17.

The BCUA is offering this free service from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The BCUA will conduct on-site shredding of personal confidential documents and will collect computer, electronic equipment and old tires for recycling. There is a limit of four tires per person. They will be accepted with or without metal rims.

Acceptable electronic equipment includes computers, monitors, printers, circuit boards, speakers, modems, mother boards, power supplies, photocopiers, fax machines, televisions, VCRs and DVD players, stereo equipment and cellular phones.

Acceptable documents are limited to confidential and sensitive materials only. Residents will be able to see their documents shredded on site. Non-confidential materials, such as books, magazines, newspapers, etc., should be recycled through your local municipal recycling program and will not be accepted at this event. It is not necessary to remove paper clips, staples or paperboard binder covers. In an effort to accommodate all those wishing to participate, there is a limit of 4 bags or boxes of documents weighing no more than 10 pounds each.

The BCUA opens this event to county residents only and will not accept materials from businesses. Proof of residency is required.
