School District Presents Proposed Budget This Week

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming up in Paramus this week

MONDAY:  The Board of Education will meet at 7:30pm in the Board Conference Room to introduce the school district's 2013-14 budget. A final budget presentation for the public is slated for March 21.

Last year the district wasfor a total of about $1.9 million in aid for 2012-2013. For the 2011-2012 school year the district received $710,195  doubling its amount in aid for that school year after aid had been cut so severely the previous year the district had only received less than $8,000 for school year 2010-2011.

TUESDAY: The Mayor and Council have a 7pm work session in the basement meeting room.

THURSDAY: The Planning Board meets at 7pm for four public hearings including one from Paramus Catholic High School for the parochial school's turf field project. Additional applications include a site plan and variance approval for Blinds to Go, a subdivision extension for a Continental Avenue home and a soil moving permit for a Verona Way residence.

FRIDAY: The Stony Lane Elementary PTA hosts its Mardi Gras Tricky Tray at 6:30pm at Our Lady of the Visitation Church on North Farview Avenue. Tickets are $30 per person and includes 15 level one tickets, sandwich platter, wine, soda, coffee and dessert. Tickets will not be available at the door but the remaining tickets can be ordered online by visiting www.stonylanepta.com.

THE WEEKEND: The Paramus High School Project Graduation will host their annual Craft Show on Sunday, 10am with over 100 exhibitors from four states with hand crafted items, art & fine photography.

Athletics

Wrestlers that qualifed for the March 8-10 State Wrestling Championships will compete in Atlantic City for a state title. The action begins Friday, 5pm for the preliminaries and pre-quarter finals. On Saturday the competition starts at 10 am for the quarter-finals and wrestle-backs I and II. Following the morning session, Boardwalk Hall will clear the facility and re-open doors at 4 pm for the 5 pm evening session of the semi-finals and wrestle-backs III and IV. On Sunday, Mar. 10, competition begins at 10 am for consolations, followed by the finals and awards ceremony at 2 pm. 

Paramus Baseball will scrimmage at New Milford on Saturday, 11am.

Paramus Catholic Softball will scrimmage Ridgewood on Saturday, 2pm.
