PARAMUS, NJ – If your favorite work of art is yourself, then you’re in for a real treat at the newly-opened “Selfie Museum” in Paramus.

Through Saturday, you can snap yourself dizzy at the limited time interactive experience, which features 25 exhibits to pose with.

Chrisena Coleman, an author and substitute teacher at Hackensack High School, said she created the pop-up museum to give people a way to make their selfies “come to life.”

“I wanted to create a space where kids of all ages can have fun, and their parents can have fun, too. Whether we know it or not, selfies are a big part of our culture moving forward. The exhibits will be limited addition, what I feel works for the space we have that can make things enjoyable and safe,” Coleman said. “This is that old school family fun.”

The exhibit, which takes about two hours to get through, includes backdrops such as flashing LED lights, NFL legends and classic movie posters.

The museum also features music to get you in the posing mood and snacks are available for purchase. Visitors should note that no pets are allowed.

In recent years, more and more museums are becoming “selfie-friendly” as a way to increase foot traffic and social media sharing. For instance, there’s the colorful Museum of Ice Cream, the Gummy Bear Museum, the Pizza Museum, which all encourage visitors to engage with the displays and to take a pic (because if you don’t, did it really happen?).

The Selfie Museum is located at 55 West Midland Avenue in Paramus and will be open from noon to 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 3

Tickets range from $5 to $25, depending upon visitor’s age, and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

Some of the best selfies will be posted on the museum’s Instagram account (@TheSelfieMuseum).
