1 In 5 Lost Power In Parsippany, Police Set Up Detours

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Stormy weather left nearly 20 percent of Parsippany without power Tuesday evening. Nearly 700 remained without power as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, with no estimated restoration time.

JCP&L reported 4,583 outages in Parsippany — 19.08 percent of customers — at 7:30 p.m. More than 80,000, including 25,000 in Morris County, lost power around the state as the storm passed through.

Police set up detours for intersections without power. The Parsippany Police Department has received numerous calls, with many pending, authorities said at 7 p.m.

"We are addressing all pending calls by their priority," the police department wrote on social media. "Please refrain from calling the police department or 911 unless it is an emergency. Do not touch any utility wires that have fallen down."

The National Weather Service placed Parsippany under a severe-thunderstorm warning for much of the evening.
