Update: More Than 13k Still Without Power In Parsippany

JCP&L said power would be restored by next week to almost all customers

PARSIPPANY, NJ—With more than 13,000 customers in Parsippany still without power, intersections on Rt. 46 closed and some traffic lights running on generators, Jersey Central Power & Light said it hoped to have most electrical service back on by late next Tuesday.

"JCP&L has established a Global Estimated Time of Restoration of 11 p.m., Tuesday, August 11," said a statement released by the company Wednesday night. "This means 95 percent of the customers currently out of power will have their power restored by that time."

JCP&L, which services much of central and northern NJ, reported more than 13,00 outages in the township on Thursday afternoon, adding to the total of nearly 87,000 in Morris County.
