Blue Lives Matter: August Is Police Appreciation Month in Parsippany-Troy Hills
Township honors civilian forces with Police Appreciation month.

There has been cake and homemade cookies for days but now it's official. Mayor James R. Barberio proclaimed August Police Appreciation Month in Parsippany-Troy Hills.
In a year rocked by tragic confrontations between officers in blue and civilians across the country, the people of the most-populated city in Morris County wanted to show their appreciation to the police force. So they've been bringing homemade food, cakes, and cookies. Committees are planning a few events for September. But according to a proclamation presented at a town council meeting earlier this week, the celebrations can continue long into the future.
"People are outraged at what has been going on, how police officers are getting randomly shot and everybody in town wants police to know that blue lives matter," explained Michele Sylvin, Confidential Aide in the Office of Mayor Barberio. "This is the start of what we are doing."
