Man Killed In Fiery Rt. 80 Crash Wednesday Morning

Police say a man was pronounced dead at the scene of a large crash this morning on Route 80.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — One person was killed in a crash and car fire this morning on Route 80, New Jersey State Police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, near mile marker 43.8 in Parsippany, police said. Police say the man was driving a Ford Fusion when he crashed into a truck, causing a fire.

The truck driver was uninjured, police said.

Neither drivers' identity was released. Police are still attempting to notify the deceased man's next-of-kin.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon. Several lanes of Route 80 were closed during the morning rush hour for three hours, causing significant delays.
