Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?
Dr. Kandula: Dermatology and Skincare Arts has been a dream of mine for almost 10 years when I first began working as a board-certified dermatologist. My vision of providing convenient access to the best medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology came to light in August 2019, when my private practice was launched in Parsippany, New Jersey.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Dr. Kandula: I am proud to have come from a family of physicians, and I always knew I wanted to follow that path. Once I found dermatology, I fell in love with the variety of conditions and the opportunity to help patients of all ages feel better.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger, what would you say?
Dr. Kandula: Provide the best medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatological care in New Jersey.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Dr. Kandula: The most difficult challenge thus far has been helping patients navigate their insurance issues. The insurance industry has changed dramatically, and so much more responsibility is on the patient with deductibles and coinsurances that helping them make decisions for their care has become a large part of the medical side of our practice.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Dr. Kandula: Knowing I have been able to help a patient through a difficult situation fuels my passion. It may be as serious as treating a skin cancer, but the teenager with acne that causes them to be less confident, the nervous parent seeing their baby experiencing an uncomfortable rash or just someone who wants to enhance their look are all very real issues that I am honored to have solutions for them.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Dr. Kandula: We strive to be accessible for our patients through treating them as we would want our families to be treated. Patients have a right to expect a return call when they have a question and to obtain an appointment at times that are convenient for their needs such as before work, evenings and Saturdays.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Dr. Kandula: Be passionate with all you do — but, ultimately, balance is the absolute key to success. Being successful to me is more than striving to be the best physician I can be, but also the best mother to my twins, partner for my husband, boss to my employees and friend to those who have encouraged me. It is also giving myself permission to take care of me, and I think that is a thing that we all struggle with, is finding this needed balance to feel successful in life.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Dr. Kandula: We have two exciting and unique projects underway. We understand how difficult it can be to juggle family and work. Sometimes taking care of yourself is not at the top of the list. Our goal is to offer early morning and lunchtime appointments that are easily accessible and will assure a thorough but quick visit for specific targeted issues. Patients will use a confidential portal to complete their registration online, while the office will maintain a minimal number of appointment slots during the key time to reduce wait times and schedule visits for acute issues rather than lengthy full skin exams. This model will allow patients quick and easy access to care.
We are also launching “Me-Time” cosmetic services. Similar to the medical appointments, the “Me-Time” feature allows for brief but powerful cosmetic visits, all under 30 minutes for patients on the go.
We recognize our patients don’t always have a lot of time. Me-Time gives them a way to look and feel their very best without carving out hours of precious time. Some of the services offered during Me-Time include laser, chemical peels, skin care consultations and injectable services such as Botox or Xeomin.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Dr. Kandula: This month, we are launching “Corporate Connections” with local business owners. This program will provide services, cosmetic treatments and products at a discount to employees of those that partner with us at no cost to the company. Our hope is to include surrounding township employees as well as to be able to give back to first responders, police officers, teachers and the teams that support them.
Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?
Dr. Kandula: Prospective patients are welcome to come to the office and meet me and my team, tour the office and learn about services. They can learn more through our website and by following us on Instagram and Facebook. In signing up through the website or following us, patients will hear about the latest technologies, treatments and cosmetic specials throughout the year. Any business owners wishing to participate in the Corporate Connections program can email us.
