Does Parsippany Provide Enough TLC?
Could there be more diversity in the programs offered in town?

When we moved to Parsippany about six years ago, we were childless, unmarried MBA students, working full-time in Morris County. We wanted to buy an affordable house, so we found a small (well, actually more like tiny) two-bedroom fixer-upper in Lake Hiawatha.
After two years, we put the house on the market, because spending our weekends installing toilets and tearing down drywall was beginning to take its toll on us. We were both working in Morris County, so we looked at houses in towns nearby.
We ended up staying in Parsippany and moving into a larger, more updated house just before our wedding. Our thoughts were that our location was within walking distance of schools for the kids we wanted to have, that it was a nice, family-friendly area and that it was near the commuter park and ride should either of us ever need to work in New York City again.Â

Since having children, I would say the best things about Parsippany are the many parks, especially the new one in Druid Hill, which has a lot of fun features and is in a nice, woodsy setting.Â
We are also involved in a great Mommy & Me program at the town's Activity Center at Knoll Country Club—the leaders are very welcoming and incorporate dancing, singing and crafts—my toddler loves it and my infant loves to watch the older kids.

I think Parsippany could have a more diverse, comprehensive recreation program. I have been taking my toddler to soccer through the Montville Recreation Department. Montville charges for its programs and they offer so many different activities for people of all ages—trips to Atlantic City, cooking, lacrosse, yoga—right now I see more than 50 options listed online.Â
If Parsippany had more of these types of programs, I think it would build a better sense of community and maybe provide another good reason to move to our town, with minimal to no additional cost.
What about you—what do you, as a parent, like about Parsippany, and what do you think could use a little TLC?
