PARSIPPANY, NJ - A live power line sparked a brush fire and a road closure Monday afternoon, according to the Parsippany Police Department.

According to authorities, the live power line came down across Mountain Way and the roadway is closed between Old Dover Road and Mountain Way Park. The fire department is also on scene due to a brush fire that was started by the downed power line, police said.

Additionally, there is a power outage in the area with just over 2,300 JCP&L customers impacted, according to the outage map. As of 2 p.m. officials said the outage would be extended 6-8 hours while repairs are being made. Mountain Way remains closed so JCP&L crews can conduct repairs to the power line and township personnel can assess the pavement that was damaged by the power line, officials said.
